What if the world was just like you? What if everyone did their jobs just like you? What if everyone handled life situations just like you? What if everyone had the same focus, goals and career as you? What if the world was JUST LIKE YOU?
Do you ever think when you are going about your daily activities; "did I do that to the best of my ability?", "did I handle that situation correctly?", "could I have done that better?", "am I doing the very thing that God has created me to do?". Have you ever felt like you were out of your element?
I have been challenged recently by God to be a better person. I have been called to a position higher than I deserve. I have been given opportunities that at times I know I don't deserve. Why? I know its not of any good of my own; but because of the grace of God.
But what good would it be if I took all the opportunities thrown at me if I throw them away? If I decide that I am going to slack on my gifts and not use my full potential. How many people will be affected by my disobedience or disdain to the ability that I have to change the lives of many people positively? Yes, God has the power to choose another person; but why shouldn't I just do it?
Many times we take opportunities for granted, we take our jobs for granted, we take our families for granted, WE TAKE OUR LIVES FOR GRANTED. What if everyone approached their job by showing up late, doing half the work, placing their attention on other things except meeting the needs of what their job requires? We would have doctors botching surgeries, radiation therapist missing the tumors, nurses giving too much of the wrong medication, lawyers putting innocent people in jail, mechanics missing the oil in your engine, teachers giving incorrect information, pilots causing the planes to land on homes, chefs using outdated ingredients. These are just a few examples of how a negligent person can cause a harmless situation to go really bad; really quick.
Today, CHOOSE to be present in whatever God has given you to do, CHOOSE to be the best at what you do, CHOOSE to not accept mediocrity when it comes to your abilities. If you do this, God WILL give you more responsibilities. He can't use you if you're a procrastinator, if you are careless, if you are unsure. He needs people who can get the job done effectively and expeditiously. God just can't WAIT ON YOU!
So I ask, what if the world was Just Like You?

It's Been A While
We go through life without a care in the world. Not thinking about whom we hurt, whom we walked over, or to whom we offend with words and deeds.
Do you ever take the time to call someone to tell them that you love them? Not someone in your immediate circle but someone who would totally be off guard to your tender and timeless gesture.
Do you think about how God has died for you and ALL the things He's given up just to allow you freedom? Do you allow yourself to be used by God in the manner that He sees fit and not the way you would want to be used?
I was riding down the street today and I started thinking about what I would do if I was stricken with a time-sensitive deadly disease? If I was disabled in the manner of which I could no longer care for myself? If I lost my job and home and had to depend on someone else? If I died tomorrow?
I also thought, would I be willing to sacrifice those things if God was promised to get the glory from it? Would I be willing to be a spectacle for all to see just so His praises through my testimony could be reached? Would I be willing to lay down my life without supplication? Would I be willing to let the things of the earth go in aspirations of seeing His face?
We get so caught up on our things, our lives, our friends, our families, our jobs, our homes; etc., that we totally forget our purpose here on earth is to serve God. We feel as though we are owed everything that we have.
The only true promise that we have is that we were born to die. All the things we do and acquire here are just intermittent to what is inevitable which is death. Why waste the little time you have here on earth; feeding your ego, giving yourself praise, elevating yourself to positions you're not even qualified to give yourself?
Have you taken the time to praise God for who He is in your life and thank Him for all He has done? Have you given of yourself lately in the manner that will make Him pleased?
HAS IT BEEN A WHILE since you've taken the time to just appreciate? Starting today, do something for someone, allow yourself the possibility to be present for a cause other than your own. Don't let life past you by without being a help to something or someone. Decrease in you so that God may increase in you! Don't let another "while" past you by without being a blessing.
